Tinubu Donates 100 Trucks of Rice and N1.2 Billion Palliatives to Northern States and FCT

President Bola Tinubu has donated palliatives worth over N1.2 billion and 100 trucks of rice to support vulnerable households across Nigeria’s northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The donation, announced by the Presidency on Wednesday, is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to cushion the impact of economic reforms on low-income families.

The relief items will be distributed through state governments in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Office of the Vice President.

“The President remains committed to ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind as we implement difficult but necessary reforms,” a presidential statement read.

“These palliatives are a tangible expression of the Renewed Hope Agenda’s focus on compassion, equity, and inclusive growth.”

Recipients include all 19 northern states and the FCT, with allocations determined based on population data and vulnerability assessments. State governors have been urged to ensure transparent, needs-based distribution to reach the most vulnerable citizens.

Labour unions and civil society groups have welcomed the gesture, while emphasizing the importance of accountability. “Palliatives are helpful, but sustainable solutions—job creation, affordable food, and stable power—remain the ultimate goal,” noted a coalition spokesperson.

The Presidency advised citizens to rely on official channels for distribution updates and to report any irregularities through designated hotlines.
