Bandits Attack Police Mobile Force Camp in Kwara, Kill Three Officers

Suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three officers and injuring several others.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, when gunmen stormed the facility with heavy weaponry. According to security sources, the attackers engaged officers in a fierce gun battle before retreating into nearby forests.

“The suspects came in large numbers, heavily armed. Our men responded bravely, but we lost three officers in the exchange. Others are receiving treatment,” a senior police official confirmed on condition of anonymity.

The Kwara State Police Command has acknowledged the attack and vowed to pursue the perpetrators. “We condemn this cowardly assault on our officers.

A joint operation with other security agencies is ongoing to track down the attackers and prevent further incidents,” stated the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

Tenebo, located near Kwara’s border with Niger State, has experienced sporadic violence linked to armed groups operating across state lines.

The attack revealed the persistent security challenges in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region, where police and military outposts occasionally face targeted raids.

Community leaders have expressed grief over the fallen officers and called for a reinforced security presence in border communities.

As investigations continue, the Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements through official channels.
