House of Reps Tells Service Chiefs: End Insecurity or Resign

The House of Representatives has issued a stark ultimatum to Nigeria’s Service Chiefs, demanding they either reverse the country’s worsening security crisis or resign immediately.

During a recent plenary session, lawmakers expressed profound frustration over the military’s inability to protect citizens, specifically highlighting the alarming surge in kidnappings across the South-West.

The legislative outrage reflects growing public anxiety as banditry and abductions spill into regions previously considered safe havens.

Lawmakers argued that the current security architecture has failed the Nigerian people. In a decisive resolution, the House declared that any service chief lacking the strategic capacity to halt the violence must honorably step down to allow for fresh leadership.

The directive significantly escalates legislative pressure on the military high command and the federal government.
