Naira Records Slight Gain as CBN Holds Crucial Policy Meeting
Nigerians received a small piece of good news on the currency front on Wednesday as the naira showed a slight recovery against the US dollar in the parallel market.
The local currency strengthened marginally to around ₦1,385/$ amid continued strong demand for foreign exchange. While the improvement is modest, many market watchers see it as a temporary relief in an otherwise volatile forex market.
According to Punch Newspaper, the development came on the same day the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) held its 305th Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting.
Economists, investors, and ordinary citizens are now eagerly awaiting the outcome of the meeting, particularly decisions on interest rates and fresh strategies to tackle the persistent high inflation that continues to pressure households across the country.
The MPC is expected to review recent economic indicators and decide whether to further increase the monetary policy rate or introduce other measures to stabilize prices and support the Naira.
With living costs still very high, many Nigerians hope today’s meeting will produce concrete steps that can bring meaningful relief to the economy in the coming months.

The coming hours will be critical as the CBN governor is expected to address the media on the committee’s resolutions.
