Fresh revelations have emerged tying Nigerian political heavyweight and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to at least three residential properties in Winter Springs, Florida, all allegedly registered under the name of his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, a sitting judge on Nigeria’s Court of Appeal.
According to documents reviewed by Omoyele Sowore via his X handle, it was alleged that the properties located in a quiet, upscale suburb northeast of Orlando appear to have been strategically distributed among Wike’s children, raising serious questions about potential efforts to conceal ownership and obscure the source of funds used for acquisition.
While the exact purchase prices and dates remain under review, the pattern of ownership channeled through family members and held under a judicial officer’s name has triggered alarm among financial crime watchdogs and prompted formal outreach to U.S. authorities.
In a significant development, investigators have formally alerted the Office of the Florida Attorney General, currently led by James Uthmeier, flagging the transactions as potential violations of state and federal anti-money laundering statutes.
In communications, Wike is accused of using “proceeds of crime” to acquire and traffic U.S. real estate acts that, if proven, constitute first-degree felonies under Florida law.
The allegations come amid mounting scrutiny of high-ranking Nigerian officials accused of stashing wealth abroad while presiding over regions plagued by economic hardship. Justice Eberechi Wike’s dual role as both a senior Nigerian jurist and apparent property holder in the U.S. adds another layer of complexity, potentially implicating conflicts of interest and abuse of public office.
